Last night I was able to experience even more of Gods true victory as I sat and prayed with three of the grade 7 girls I mentor each week. After countless small groups full of questions and endless discussions about their lives and the boys they like, they finally decided they wanted to experience the LOVE that comes with knowing Jesus Christ.
During small group time I was going to share with my girls a song that had touched my heart- its called "Love Me" by JJ Heller.
Although I have only been listening to her music for a couple weeks now she has inspired me musically more than anyone else. Her music is about the reality and truth of God in every circumstance; her lyrics tackle difficult issues and speak from life experience. If you have time give her a listen.
Then God prompted me to share a different one instead- I played the song "Invisible Love." also by JJ Heller. We discussed what it talked about- I love the lines "If my eyes could see you I’d have no faith to prove." "Lord, I know your whisper though I’ve never heard the sound.". Our conversation progressed into talk of why we believe in God even though we cannot see or hear him. We talked about friends who were unbelievers and the reason why alot of people choose not to follow God- because they cannot have what they want, their own worldly desires and pleasures. As Christians we submit our lives to God and trust that he knows what we really need before we do, that he only gives us whats best.
Shaelynn, one of the girls who is always full of energy, has tons of things to say and has shown a hunger to learn more about God- (she prayed in small group for the first time the week before)- piped in "You know I have never actually become a Christian before." "Well.." I told her " We can do that today if you would like!" and she responded excitedly "YES!". My heart skipped a beat- Thank you God. I asked the girls if anyone else would like to become followers of Jesus and 2 others, Aaron and Natasha, shot their hands up as well. My heart skipped two more beats- Thank you God, Thank you God. Shaelynn, Natasha, and Erinn all live in Non-Christian families but yet have shown so much curiousity and thirst for learning about Jesus in the past few months. As I prayed with them later that night I could tell that they were not making this decision because the others were, they had finally chosen to experience the relentless LOVE that we had talked about so much.
I told them a huge celebration is going on in Gods kingdom right now because three more beautiful girls have become daughters of Christ!
I am so thankful that God has used me to welcome them into his kingdom. I ran up to the pastor and told him that there were three white roses he could display on the podium this Sunday- we smiled, both knowing that God had been victorious once again!
The JOY that is consuming me right now is uncomparable-seeing people come to Christ is truly one of Gods greatest gifts to us as his followers.
Thank you God.
Thank you God.
Thank you God.
